Daniels' Tree

Tree work, start to stump. Then the yard around it.

You'll know the price before a saw starts.

The same four steps for one stump or a yard full of oaks.

  1. You call or send the form

    Any day of the week

Tell us what you need done. If it's a tree that's already on something, say so first.

  2. We come and look

    Free

Someone who does the work walks the yard with you: the job, what's around it, and how the truck gets in.

  3. You get a price

    Before any work

One price for the job you asked for, with what's included spelled out, so there's nothing to argue about later.

  4. We do it and clean up

    Job day

The work gets done, the brush and debris go through the chipper or onto the truck, and the yard gets raked before we leave.

Reviews of Daniels' Tree Service, LLC, quoted exactly as customers wrote them on Google.

“Couldn't be happier. Daniel and his team took down a maple tree in our back yard and an old holly bush on the side of the house. Left our lawn perfectly intact and ground down the stump. He is friendly, professional and responsive. Would definitely use him again in the future.”

Before you book

It depends on the job, so the estimate is free and done in person. For a tree, the price follows its size, what's under it (a roof, a fence, wires), how close the truck and chipper can get, and whether you want the stump ground and the wood hauled. You get the number before any work is booked.

Yes. Daniels' Tree Service, LLC is insured. Tree work is risky, and if an uninsured crew damages your house or someone gets hurt, it can land on you. Ask every company you get a price from to show proof, ours included.

Yes. Call (267) 401-6564, including after hours, if a tree or large limb is on your house, car or driveway. If it's touching a power line, stay clear and call 911 and PECO first.

Yes, a 5% referral discount. Ask how it works when you call for your estimate.

We accept cash and checks. Ask when you book if you need to pay another way.

All of Pennsylvania. Most of our work is within about 30 miles of Willow Grove, in Montgomery County, Bucks County and Philadelphia, but we take jobs anywhere in the state. Call and tell us where it is.

About the work

It depends on your township and on where the tree stands. Rules differ from one municipality to the next, and trees along the street or tied to a building project are the ones most often regulated. Call your township office before booking a removal; it takes one phone call to find out.

Only if you ask for it. Some people want the stump gone and some are happy with it cut low, so tell us when we look at the tree and the estimate will cover the removal and the stump together.

Brush is chipped on site, and the wood is hauled away unless you want it. We can cut it to length and leave it for firewood, or leave the chips for your beds. Just say so before the job.

Tell us when you call, and don't touch the tree or the wire. The line from the pole to your house can usually be worked around. Anything on the lines along the street is PECO's: report it to PECO's emergency line, and call 911 if a wire is down.

That's between you and your insurer, and we can't promise what a policy covers. Take photos before any cutting starts and call your insurer early. We'll tell the adjuster exactly what we did and why.

Trimming controls size and shape; pruning is for the tree's health and safety. Trimming cuts back healthy branches that have grown too close to a house, a walk or a hedge. Pruning removes dead, weak and hazardous limbs so the tree keeps a strong structure.

Late winter to early spring, for most trees. The tree is dormant, so it's under less stress, and with the leaves off you can see what needs to come out. Dead or dangerous limbs shouldn't wait for the season.

Every one to three years for most trees, depending on how fast they grow and what's underneath them. A tree over a roof or a driveway is worth a look every year.

Three to ten years. Small softwood stumps like pine go fastest; dense hardwoods like oak take the longest. Until then a stump can sprout, trip people and draw insects, which is why most people have it ground.

Yes, once the lines are marked. Pennsylvania law requires a PA One Call ticket (dial 811) before digging, and the utilities then mark their buried lines for free. Private lines like sprinklers, lighting and dog fences aren't marked, so tell us where yours run.

Sometimes. A tree with dead tips or one bad limb can often be pruned and kept for years, and a splitting trunk can be cabled. A tree that is mostly dead, hollow at the base or lifting at the roots can't, and should come down before it falls.

Treat it only if it's still healthy and worth a lot to you; otherwise plan to remove it. Emerald ash borer is now in nearly every Pennsylvania county and kills an ash three to five years after it moves in. Treatment has to start before the tree is attacked, and a dead ash turns brittle, so it shouldn't be left standing over a house.

Usually not. Spotted lanternflies stress a tree by feeding on it, and they're hard on grapevines and tree-of-heaven, but a healthy shade tree normally survives them. Montgomery and Bucks counties are both inside Pennsylvania's lanternfly quarantine.

Landscaping and yards

Planting, garden beds, mulch, shrub and hedge trimming, landscape design and seasonal cleanups. We also build and repair patios and paver walkways, and can take out a tree or a stump as part of the same job.

Spring and fall, for most yards. A spring visit clears winter debris, edges the beds and puts down fresh mulch; a fall visit deals with leaves and cuts things back before winter.

Usually, yes. Cracks, sinking sections, loose pavers and poor drainage are the usual signs, and most can be fixed by lifting the pavers, correcting the base and relaying them. Severe damage can mean replacing the patio.

Several days for most patios. The time depends on its size, the material and how much has to be dug out or removed first.

Yard waste, brush and storm debris, garage, shed and basement junk, and whole-property estate cleanouts. Tell us what you have when you call, and we'll say whether we can take it.

Things people ask Daniel

No! You get used to it. Daniel has been doing tree work for 15 years.

Been doing it a long time. Fifteen years of it, with the company in business since 2016.

In Willow Grove

You do, if the tree is on your property. Upper Moreland Township doesn't allow branches to overhang the public street where they obstruct vehicles or pedestrians, and the street's legal right-of-way usually runs about 10 feet behind the curb. For a question about one particular tree, call the township's Code Enforcement office.

In Abington

Not for a tree on your own property, as the rules stand. Abington's own FAQ says the township does not regulate the maintenance of trees on private property. Its Shade Tree Commission has been working on a tree preservation and replacement ordinance, though, so check with the township before taking down a large tree.

You do. Abington makes property owners responsible for the street trees next to their property, and asks for at least 8 feet of clearance above the sidewalk and 14 feet above the roadway.

In Hatboro

Yes, if it's a shade tree: one planted in the public right-of-way, or with at least half its trunk, branches or roots reaching into it. Nobody may cut, prune or remove one without a permit from Hatboro's Shade Tree Commission. There's no fee, and the commission asks for about two weeks.

In Jenkintown

Yes, for a tree in the public right-of-way. The borough's application lists a $10 fee for pruning and $25 for removal, rebated if the tree is replaced within six months, and it requires the stump to be removed and proof of insurance. Ask the borough for the current form and fees before you book.

In Fort Washington

Yes. Upper Dublin Township's Shade Tree Commission has control of trees that stand mostly within the public right-of-way, and planting, removing or trimming one needs its approval through the Public Works department. The township's rules make an exception for a tree that is an immediate hazard or storm damaged. For a tree wholly in your yard, ask the township before a large removal.
