Daniels' Tree

Tree trimming and pruning that leaves a tree worth keeping.

We trim and prune trees in Willow Grove and nearby towns: dead wood out, limbs off the roof, and the shape left looking like a tree.

People use the two words for the same job, and there is a difference. Trimming is about size and shape: branches growing into the house, over the driveway or into the neighbor's yard. Pruning is about the tree's health and safety: taking out dead, cracked, weak and crossing limbs before the wind does it for you.

Either way the cut matters. A limb taken off in the right place closes over. One torn off, or a tree topped flat, invites rot and a flush of weak new growth that fails in the next storm. We'd rather take less and leave a tree that looks like nobody was there.

Late winter into early spring suits most pruning, while the tree is dormant and you can see its structure. Dead and hazardous limbs can come out any time of year, and shouldn't wait.

What's included

  • Free on-site estimate
  • Dead, broken and hanging limbs removed
  • Limbs cleared from roofs, gutters, driveways and service wires
  • Thinning and shaping where the tree needs it
  • Brush chipped and hauled away

Time to call if

  • Branches touch the roof, the siding or the wires
  • There are dead limbs you can see from the ground
  • The tree hasn't been pruned in three years or more
  • A limb cracked in the last storm and is still hanging

Limbs on or near the wire from the street? Call PECO first. We work on the rest.

You'll know the price before a saw starts.

The same four steps for one stump or a yard full of oaks.

  1. You call or send the form

    Any day of the week

Tell us what you need done. If it's a tree that's already on something, say so first.

  2. We come and look

    Free

Someone who does the work walks the yard with you: the job, what's around it, and how the truck gets in.

  3. You get a price

    Before any work

One price for the job you asked for, with what's included spelled out, so there's nothing to argue about later.

  4. We do it and clean up

    Job day

The work gets done, the brush and debris go through the chipper or onto the truck, and the yard gets raked before we leave.

“Couldn't be happier. Daniel and his team took down a maple tree in our back yard and an old holly bush on the side of the house. Left our lawn perfectly intact and ground down the stump. He is friendly, professional and responsive. Would definitely use him again in the future.”

About the work

Trimming controls size and shape; pruning is for the tree's health and safety. Trimming cuts back healthy branches that have grown too close to a house, a walk or a hedge. Pruning removes dead, weak and hazardous limbs so the tree keeps a strong structure.

Late winter to early spring, for most trees. The tree is dormant, so it's under less stress, and with the leaves off you can see what needs to come out. Dead or dangerous limbs shouldn't wait for the season.

Every one to three years for most trees, depending on how fast they grow and what's underneath them. A tree over a roof or a driveway is worth a look every year.

Tell us when you call, and don't touch the tree or the wire. The line from the pole to your house can usually be worked around. Anything on the lines along the street is PECO's: report it to PECO's emergency line, and call 911 if a wire is down.

Before you book

It depends on the job, so the estimate is free and done in person. For a tree, the price follows its size, what's under it (a roof, a fence, wires), how close the truck and chipper can get, and whether you want the stump ground and the wood hauled. You get the number before any work is booked.
